Mirrors are a simple and great way to decorate a room. I have a variety available and I’m always adding more. I specialize in reworking old mirrors or creating new ones in my studio. By far my most popular wall mirror yet, this Baroque wall mirror was refinished in glistening red. The exaggerated, elaborate detail of the frame and the highly lacquered finish make it truly eye-catching. It is at once romantic and whimsical, glamorous without being too serious. This shade of red has been one of my most popular colors. The color makes a statement, but works with many interior styles and color schemes.
An antique gilded frame was the perfect size to become a vanity mirror in a fun shade of turquoise. The original gilding provides a great undertone and gives the refinished mirror depth and a slightly aged patina. Glazing over gilding works particularly well with blue. This shade of turquoise has a subtly retro modern quality that makes a nice counterpoint to the more traditional, sculptural detail of the frame.
An elaborate antique frame, originally gilded, has been refinished in a shade of French blue and given a 1/4 thick mirror. It now is a fantasy of “decadent decay,” vibrant and polished, but showing its age and distress with pride. The blue has been built up in thin layers, allowing hints of the original gilding to come through and give it a rich, timeless patina. 29 x 35.
